COVID-19 is hitting everyone hard.
Since financial pressure is one of the leading causes of suicide, the military community is at even greater risk of suicide now because of COVID-19.
Our first crowdfunding phase paid for us to promote free veteran suicide prevention services AND paid for stem cell treatments for a veteran! With racing on hold during COVID, though, we had paused crowdfunding.
Many asked to support continuing the National Awareness Campaign during the COVID-19 pandemic so we opened this campaign.
Contributions will help us help Racing For Heroes and The Rosie Network reach veterans who need help more than ever before it’s too late. Being able to resume the National Awareness Campaign is critical.
The tshirt reward for the campaign commemorates Colin’s assistance delivering hand sanitizer during COVID-19. ENTER SIZE in Order Notes on the payment page: S, M, L, XL, XXL.
He delivered free hand sanitizer from distilleries to first responders and essential businesses, and Racing For Heroes took orders and organized his deliveries. It helped communities while also continuing to raise awareness of the free suicide prevention services. You can read about it here.
“This is a force multiplier!
Every $10 given to the crowdfunder is like giving $100
to the nonprofit because of the national exposure we get.”
– Mike Evock, Founder of Racing For Heroes
Retired Special Forces Chief Warrant Officer Three (CW3-180A)
Thank you for supporting the National Awareness Campaign to help save the lives of those who have already given so much!
Next up Homestead!
Colin will be racing our car and a Truck at Homestead-Miami Speedway March 20-21. We have a new veteran-owned business partner joining us on the car for those races and we’ll reveal who it is next week!
Did you know FS1 did a 73-second feature on us during the Daytona practice day? We greatly appreciate FS1 featuring us. And what a cool thing for a small veteran-owned business, The Jewelry Republic, to get 45 seconds screen time. A video that a fan took of their TV screen is at https://www.facebook.com/huntgarrettracing/videos/505907693676116/
NASCAR races postponed
Due to COVID-19, all NASCAR races are postponed until further notice.
Darlington Tamed :)
After not racing since February because of the COVID-19 shutdown, Colin Garrett and the Sam Hunt Racing The Rosie Network No 26 Toyota faced Darlington Raceway, known as known as being “Too Tough to Tame” for a reason. In the words of Fox Sports writer Jared Turner, it “inflicts headaches on the most seasoned veterans. It notoriously punishes rookies. It crushes dreams.”
A new team with a rookie Xfinity driver who had never even been to Darlington would be racing with no practice laps or qualifying. What could possibly go wrong?
Even after having a broken brake bleed, Colin drove one of the fastest cars and came away with not a scratch on it. His average speed was position 13 as he ran speeds between p10 and p15 all day. Lots of reasons to celebrate!
